Chapter 10 General Alison and Dorcas
In chapter 10, General Alison and Dorcas is talking to each other. The Dorcas think General Alison has too many company for her. Because she need to surgeon, she was not welling to do that. Therefore, Cathy outraged and indignant, and was very severe on doctor, and accused him of insubordination. Although she lie down in bed, she still get report from other animals. The General didn’t believe that she can talk with animals and think that is superstition, but Dorcas really believe that and take some example. One of the example is about Shekels. Dorcas say that Shekels will report every thing that happens in the officers’ quarters; and if he’s short of facts, he invents them. At that moment, Shekels grovel. The second part, General Alison want to punish doctor because the doctor don’t salute, but that is not Cathy really want. She just want General Alison talk to the doctor about that faintly.At the end of the chapter, Dorcas tell General Alison about what Cathy want. She want him to preside a court-martial for her. and shake hands with Soldier Boy.

In this chapter, the behavior of Cathy make me feel that she just a normal girl. She also assert some unreasonable thing. From the point of General Alison’s view, those events are superstition. Moreover, i don’t know why Cathy have that kind of power to preside a court-martial. That part is incomprehensibility to me.

Chapter 8 THE SCOUT-START. BB AND LIEUTENANT-GENERAL ALISON
Chapter 9 SOLDIER BOY AND SHEKELS AGAIN

In chapter 8, the chapter just introduction the beginning of the scout. BB have a duty to go to some place. There is four miles on the trail to Fort Clayton. This chapter just a foreword for chapter 9.
In chapter 9, the story is beginning interesting. The first paragraph described the duty to escort. In the mission, BB has been ambushed and badly shot. Therefore, BB can not travel. Another soldier, Thorndike, bring the news back. Cathey got on the Soldier Boy’s back and shouts to him. Go. She roded quickly. between the travel, they meet a group of wolves. They are snarl and snap. The little girl is so tired because the four hours travel, but she still put up her bugle and blew it. Those wolves got bolder and bolder. Soldier Boy defensed for little girl. Finally those wolves retreated, and they arrived the BB’s place.

In those two chapter, the story described the accrual event for little girl. From there, it perform the situation what she meet and how she handle it. From there, we can know that. The brick of little girl is not child’s courage but really courage. Even the Shekels also compliment her as a reptile. (That still freakish.)

In chapter 7, there is a short conversation between soldier boy and shekels. They talk about the Mexican Plug. At the beginning of this chapter, SHEKELS is troubled by Mexican Plug, because Mexican Plug tell him for a reptile. That is very strange. But Mexican Plug look ignorant. So SHEKELS can’t say anything. After SOLDIER BOY tell him that reptile mean a plantigrade circumflex vertebrate bacterium that hasn’t any wings and is uncertain. He accept that. The second part, the chapter talk about the some thief want to steal horse.
This chapter is very short, i believe the mean idea of this chapter is to introduce the SHEKELS. Therefore, there are nor much to say.

Chapter 6 described the communication between SOLDIER BOY and MEXICAN PLUG. What is Plug? It is not defined in this chapter, but I think PLUG is a kind of donkey or horse. Anyway, in this chapter, the SOLDIER BOY and MEXICAN PLUG cheat to each other. There are some points in this chapter. First of all, the MEXICAN PLUG praises the Soldier Boy’s name. After that, SOLDIER BOY talked about the Cathy. Cathy taught SOLDIER BOY how to salute. Moreover, in the racing competition situation, Cathy didn’t want to accept any favor and unfair situation. At that paragraph, Cathy disclosed her chastity and lovely. The Second part, they talk about the Shekels, his father was a coyote and his mother was a wild-cat. They try to define what kind of animal it is. From dog through poultry to reptile, they discussed a lot about each kind of characteristics.
Horse is back from this chapter. With their conversation, the Mexican plug can be say a lowest level in the society and Soldier boy is the aristocrat, but Mexican still full of different knowledge. Although every one will give soldier boy the better valuation, the Mexican plug still has his advantage. Of course, some advantage is by birth. We can not help them or change them. A nice natural although can help us to success. We still need to learn. Just like Soldier Boy, he still need to learn salute and polite. Because of his will perform, he got the praise. The praise does not just depend on the birth, but also on the performance. Therefore, we must know that we should cultivate the correct behaviors for esteem from others.

This chapter is GENERAL ALISON to MERCEDES. He discribed that the orphan girl, cathy, is so lovely and spirited his mind. In the military, she is very safe just like in a nursery. Every soldier will take care her. She is welcome by every one. Especially, the Buffalo Bill will teach her many things. Just like seventeen ways of breaking her neck, and twenty-two ways of avoiding it. Later of this chapter, it discussed about that there maybe twin in Cathy’s body. That is why she loves dolls and girl-plays, but also drums and soldiering. At the end of this chapter, she say that she is proud to be a spaniard. Althought she only lived in spane in her baby period, she even have any mamery about that. She still say so. Maybe she is just proud of her blod.

From chapter 5, i know that the general really please with her coming. She maybe a girl, but already be affected by the environment. In chinese, there is a old Tale. A single parent’s mother living near the graveyard, but she move after she know her child play dead man game with his friend. the second place they lived is in the market. At that time, her child play salesman’s game. Finally, she move near the school. The child began to play study game. After the child growed up, he became a great man of china. I though that is why the girl like drum or soldiers stuff. Because the environment will effect people deeply.

In chapter 4, it is a letter from the lovely girl, who’s name is Cathy, to her aunt. She just describes the environment where she lived at that time. There are stretching plain, vast mountain, and beautiful brook. She had ever went to Indians campus. In there, she learned how to use bow and arrow. Now, she already can use bow better than other white boy of her size. Moreover, she still practiced to ride a horse. Sometime, she even can rode Soldier Boy, which is the a charmingest horse belong to Buffalo Bill.

In this chapter, i feel the orphan girl very like the new environment. She already dote the place with the mother earth. From her letter, i also can feel the beauty of that place. That stronger my mind to decide going out for a short vocation in spring break. I should begin to plan my travel after my midterm exams.

In this chapter, General Alison write a litter to his mother for talking about the little winning girl. He described the situation which he meet. The winning girl took everything and interesting in everything. The Indians already rechristen her, firebug or fire-fly. From those delineation, we can know that she is so spirit and lovely and even made a general to lose his dignity.

From this paragraph, i begin to think about why a person can be so lovely and spirit. Is that because she got talent? I don’t thinks so. I think that is because she has a pure mind and innocent. That make every body love her. Moreover, we can image that the military is such a serious environment. With a sincere child arrived, the circumstance is totally different. She make the live vary. Therefore, every body love her. In this chapter, we should learn to maintain a pure mind to make our environment more beauty.

This chapter is discript a letter come from General Alison’s Brother-in-low. At the end of chapter one, the story talks about the orphan child who is send from France. Therefore, the chapter 2 continues to discripte the orphan girl. She is beauty, good heart and sense of justice, but also has her father’s vivacity and cheerfulness. She can not only speak Spanish, which is teached by her mother, English, which is teached by her father, and French with her playmates. Moreover, she has a good working use of governess-German and Italian. Because of her justice, she even want to help a little ant to avoid be kill by big one. At the end of this chapter, Rouen tell Alison that he can give his heart to her for feeling young again.

At the beginning at this chapter, i really confuse by the story’s structure. After i double check the content, i discover that the first chapter is discripted by horse itself. and that the second chapter is just a litter from Rouen to Alison. So, the teller is changing form the hourse to General Alison’s brother-in-low. After i got that, the discription is very clear and easy to understand. From this chapter, we can know the background of that orphan girl. she is so kindness and smart. I believe there will be more story happen between the cute girl and the horse. I expect the next chapter

In this weedend, i begin to read A Horse’s Tale, written by Mark Twain. The subtitle of chapter one is ” soldier boy-privately to himself”. The story beginning with the description by a horse. There are four parts in Chapter 1. The first part is talking about whom he belong to and his ability. Thesecond part is talking about his parents and lineage. The third part give us some discription about his live in military. It give us the brifly description about the horse’s background from the owner through lineage to his living environment.

In the first part. we can know that he is belong by Buffalo Bill who is Chief of Scouts to the Army of the Frontier. Buffalo Bill is a strong man without any waste flesh and moving springily. The house is buffalo Bill’s favorite horse. It is also strong and beautiful. It is certified as a well-education horse. It can grag wounded soldiers, know some of the Indian signs, and remember forms, gaits, and faces. It also do will in trail.

The second part give us some information about his parents. His mother has the best blood of Kentucky, the bluest Blue-grass aristocracy. She is strong but not quite enough. For a scout horse, he must have steel in his muscle and lightning in his blood. His father was a bronco. His ancestors can trace to two million years ago. That make her mother’s Kentucky pretensions look smaller.

The last part is talking about some evernts in military. The first main thing is General Alison take care a orphan child who is his niece. The second event is about Potter, the General’s dog. Potter has no imagination and no great deal of culture, but he has a historical mind and a good memory.

Those are the summery in chapter one. It give us the brifly description about the horse’s background from the owner through lineage to his living environment. That help us to build up the knowledge for continuing capter.

This semester is beginning in Jan. 16. One of my classes is Reading. In this class, each group need to read a novel. Therefore, we decide to read “A Horse’s Tale”, which is writed by Mark Twain, one of the most famous writer in the world.
